Radio Loc

Hey guys,

I have a 97 Grand Am with a 4 banger. I had to change out the ingition switch on my column the other day. And now my radio reads "LOC". I have read up on this in the manual and apparently the previous owner had a secret code for the anti-theft on the radio. I know there is a code that the dealership can enter to get it working again, but I don't want to pay the man 50-60 bucks to do what I can do. Can anybody out there tell me the cure?

As always, any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Radio Loc

Thier is nothing that you can do but start guessing.

I always disable that feature because of this.
And who wants to steal a POS Delco anyways

Or if that fails you can always beg the Dealer to fix it for free

Re: Radio Loc

There is a way to override it. Thats where the dealership comes into play. They have a way to unlock it without actually knowing the pass code.

I worked for a stealership until 96' , and they do not know how to unlock the radios.
They send them to the manufactorer and they fix it.
They'll usually just give you one that has been refurbished

pull out the two fuses in your fuse box that is for the radio. Start your car and then turn it off. Put the fuses back in. Then try turning on your radio. This should reset everything
