Backup Lights on with Tail Lights
2001 Buick Regal LS 3800
Very simply, the back up lights operate whenever the running lights are on. I removed the bulbs for a temporary fix but would like to run this by everyone and see if I can avoid a trip to the shop. Thanks for your help Dave Hollrah |

Re: Backup Lights on with Tail Lights
Welcome to AF.
It sounds like you have a short, wiring problem or a component passing 12 volts to the back up lamp circuits. The B/U lamp circuits get 12 volts from the transmission range switch (PRND321) while car is in reverse only. The range switch is located on the rear top of the transmission where the shift linkage/cable is located.

Re: Backup Lights on with Tail Lights
bnaylor, thanks for the reply, appreciated.
I'm not sure this is related but now the Regal's dash lights flash, the engine stumbles and the shifter is locked in park. I did remove an auto starter that had a keyless bypass feature. Hmmm Sometimes tho, the car will run fine!!? |
