Air Conditioning Odor
So I have a 04 Endeavor and there has been a foul odor (moldy) coming from the vents when the AC is turned on. I checked on Google and read some things what I should do. It says to check for the AC draining which it doesnt seem to be doing, Which leads me here. Where is the drain for the AC located on the vehicle. Also What cleaning solution should I use to clean the coils up with. Thanks for your time.

I have the same issue. It is a foul smell, it is a moldy/dusty smell. What do you do about? I noticed something was mentioned about a filter??
Let me know .. please !! .. Erin |

We own a 2004 Endeavor and we have the leaking problem. My husband has looked all along the firewall in the engine bay and can't find rubber hose. Could you be more specific, please? |

Re: Air Conditioning Odor
at the base of the heater /ac core the plastic surround
the lowest point of the heater is where the water collects there should be a hose that directs the water from condensation and directs it outside the passenger compartment sometimes they get dislodged or blocked the hose may go through the firewall or the floor |

My buddy works for a company named AirSept that makes products just for your type of issue. They got their start making chemicals and special tools to clean a car's ac evaporator. Mold and other microbial growth can grow in your evaporator and cause the stench. I know a lot of VW dealer's carry their evaporator cleaner and coating.
You can get info here: www.airsept.com |

Re: Air Conditioning Odor
hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this is a very common problem with the endeavor.you have to remove the airbox and clean out the foam used to insulate the box(it chips off and clogs the drain)there is a tsb out for this problem.ive repaired several of these.heres my trick.......remove the lower part of the heater-box on the passenger side.better have a good tool collection cause it takes some doing to get to the screws for the mixer module.once you get the box opened use a long air nozzle to blow the debris out of the drain tube.once its clear re-assemble.good luck......Matt

Re: Air Conditioning Odor
It is really hard to see or get to. It doesnt stick out enough to see but it is behind the engine, in a cutout on the firewall. You have to get underneath and look up with a mirror and a light, have fun cleaning it out :P. An easier trick would be to get some lysol, start the car, turn on the a/c and spray it in the cowl vents. It won't work instantly but after a couple of good treatments your a/c won't stink nearly as much.
