Fuel Pump Replacement.
Ok,
So i finally got around to fixing that stupid gas gauge, so i got a level sender from a seller online, and he sent me the wrong part. The two prong connector was too small in the one he sent me. SO, i swap the old broken part back in, and low and behold, I can not fit the darn pump back in the car. I have figured that its the gasket, but, how the heck do I make this thing fit back in, i tried just forcing it, and its no good. Do you think that the gasket could have warped, or, can i somehow lubricate the gasket, ugh, Im getting tired of botched repairs on this car. Thanks guys

Re: Fuel Pump Replacement.
They're tough to get back in. Use some Vaseline or some kind of lubricant on the O ring and push hard.

Re: Fuel Pump Replacement.
In addition to the o-ring lubricant suggested the key is to have the pod aligned just right and centered in the gas tank via the limited opening. Keep in mind the bottom of the fuel pump assembly is spring loaded. With patience it should fit like a champ and then you can get the c-clip on.
Good luck.

Re: Fuel Pump Replacement.
Isn't that fun working in the back seat of the car with your arms through the whole in the back seat?? Try doing it when it's about 90 degrees outside. Very fun. Almost worth having somebody else do it. I said almost. I would do it again only because I know how to now. Many people have felt your pain my friend. You fight it for about an hour before you figure out that you need to lube that o-ring. I bet the "factory trained" guys do them in about 15min. You know most things people will try to tackle on cars is easy. Its just knowing the little tricks that potentially save you hours of headache that get them the big bucks. Re: Fuel Pump Replacement.
I wouldn't call it a hole. It is a feature called a Rear Seat Pass-Through so you can carry items like skis and in the dropped down position it has cupholders. It depends on whether you have it equipped and your options package. If you have one the job is alot easier.
Here is what it looks like if you have the Rear Seat Pass-Through. ![]()
