Question CD Changer install clarification

Has anyone ever installed a factory origional CD Changer and harness into a 95,96,or 97 TC? There is a question wether the harness for the CD Changer plugs directly into the back of the radio unit in the dash, or into the RCU in the trunk. Can't seem to find any direct information on this. Thanks Rags

Re: CD Changer install clarification

Well, my wire diagram shows at least some wires going from the Changer to the RCU. I haven't looked at the diagram really well to determine if anything goes forward to the HU. I'm sure it's all in there though..

You have these diagram's on your CD FSM too. (factory service manual)

I can't read those diagrams, my brain is not wire that way. I have a harness on order, the length should tell me somethign I think. Guess I will just have to wait and see.
Thanks

Re: CD Changer install clarification

Received the wiring harness, it isn't long enough to reach the front of the car so it must just go to the RCU. The problem now is there is no place to plug it in. There are 4 slots, and they are all full. Tried unplugging the cell phone but the harness for the CD changer would not fit into that slot. Open to any suggestions anyone may have.

Re: CD Changer install clarification

Didn't I post those connector pinouts somewhere?

From memory (it's late and I'm shot) the center plug on the RCU shares it's connector with the CD changer. I will definitely double check that theory 4/13, unless you have a problem with Friday the 13th jinxing your project

Are there empty ports in your new connector? Is your new connector the same configuration as the center one on the RCU?

I'm thinking your current RCU connector is missing the CD wires (empty slots), the same wire slots that are now occupied in your new connector..

Did that make sense.. I'm exhausted.
