Thermostat housing

i have a 98 wagon with the 6 cyl the thermostat housing was cracked, i got a new one but it leaks, drip drip drip it looks like the 2 pieces just don't match up right any ideas or has anyone run into this before thanks

Did you buy it from VW? I had problem with motor for the washer, so I bought it from autozone and it did not fit well. I think that parts have to be from VW. Also, I have not changed the thermostat on VW yet.

You must insure that when installing the flange to the cylinder head that the gasket is in the housing and not falling out, usually some grease on the seal helps hold it in when bolting the flange on. Also You must use all new seals when taking it apart including the large o-ring for the pipe that goes from the flange in front of the engine to the water pump.
