Performance Chip
Hey i am just wondering about this thing i saw online. Performance chip that is supposed to replace the factory installed one and add HP to your car. I was just wondering how safe it is to do so. I saw them on ebay and they are pretty cheap. does anyone have them and what do you think of it.

Re: Performance Chip
They're worthless on a stock car. And if it's one of those cheap $20 e-bay chips, stay away from them even more. If you have enough modifications to your car that you need to adjust the fuel and timing maps (not basic bolt-ons), you should get a real engine management system and have a professional tune it specifically to your car and setup.

Re: Performance Chip
Yeah, waste of money. Just like the little VTEC controler. My friends has a 94 Prelude VTEC (redline at 7,500rpm if you didn't know) He installed the VTEC Controller that was lke 50 dollars into his ECU. Lowered the Vtec 4k just to see if it worked. It did, then he re-set it to the stock place. Takes off in it, and his redline dropped to 6500 (like in my car, the Prelude SI) Those Ebay things are a waste of money and they can mess up your car. He had this problem like 3 weeks ago and we reset his ECU and everything and it's still at 6500.
