Re: Broken Seat Leaver

This is a better alternative to replacing the recliner mechanism, which will break again...and again...and again. (Poor engineering design on GM's part.)

Re: Broken Seat Leaver

Is the crack visible? Visible hell, it shears the shaft right off! The recliner shaft breaks due to the stress involved in doing what it was designed to do. The force necessary to operate the recliner is greater than the recliner shaft can withstand after GM splines, slots, and then installs a screw down the center of a 7/16" diameter piece of cast aluminum! Once the weakend end of the shaft shears off, it exposes solid material, the replacement handle can be installed, and the problem goes away for good.
