97 blazer ...turned off now wont start

hey
i have a 97 blazer that was runnig fine and i turned it off out side of the post office and now it wont start back up. I have checked almost everything out. The battry, alternator, fuel pump, crank sensor, coil and spark are all fine. When i turn on the key it turns over but wont fire, and none of the dash lights come on! also i cant shift it out of park. i think that computer is out of it but if there is anything that i am missing will someone let me know. or if you know were i can get a computer for it that wont cost me next months rent let me know.

thanks

I doubt its the computer, as they don't go out very often.

If the idiot lights (SES) on the dash don't come on when you turn on the key, check the fuses with a test light. There are 2 that have to do with powering the computer.

Also, 1997 models are notorious for having the ignition switch go bad. You might want to do a search on this board for it.

I believe to shift it, you need the key on and your foot on the brake, correct?

If it still won't shift, you might check the circuit for the shift interlock solenoid. The fuse for that circuit also supplies voltage, at least in part to the instrument cluster.

Trans fuse 24--10 amp, check the fuse, if it's ok, leave it out. Turn on the key, check for voltage at the fuse terminals, one of the terminals should be hot. If it isn't you need to backtrack the circuit to the ignition switch. Like the other person said, you may have a problem with the ignition switch?
