06 Grand Marquis Engine "clacking"
My 06 Grand Marquis has developed a light to moderate "clacking" sound. It is heard quite clearly when the vehicle is at idle or in gear. Sound disappears during acceleration and returns when at idle. I'm not sure but the sound seems to come from the front of the engine near the serpentine belt area. I can also hear it clearly near the wheel wells. When I step on the accelerator, I cannot hear the clacking sound when the engine rpm's are above 1000. Sound can be heard clearly when reflecting from a garage wall. I am very concerned since the vehicle has only 14,000 miles on it. I hope someone may have an idea what is causing the clacking sound. When I go in for warranty service, I want to make sure the service writer doesn't say.."that sound is normal" because it is not. Thanks in advance.

Re: 06 Grand Marquis Engine "clacking"
If you have a local independent shop that you know of, take it into him first to get a diagnosis. It may cost you a 1/2 or even an hour labor, but he would tend to give you the straight scoop as he has no affiliation with the dealer.

thanks BobSS396. Good Advice. I will do that before making the stop at the L-M Dealership next week. Thank you!
