Cruise control & Abs

I have a 2000 Windstar 3.8. At first the cruise would cut in and out, and i could her the relay clicking... Now nothing...

Checked all fuses - good
changed brake switch - no change (also b/c of intermittent ABS light coming on and off)

I have a VSS which is the Neutral Saftey switch, which can also be the problem... recently i noticed my speedometer act funny, with the needle bounce back and fourth and it got stuck at 40... shut off while driving and turned back on....all good???? also the tranny feels like its shiftting wierd which is making me feel its tied to the VSS, beyond the one time speedo issue.

Also anyone have any issue with the abs light coming on and off on its own? Seems like both fronts need to replaced?

Are RPMs all over the place at the same time the speedometer is going all over the place ?

Not really... Once for some reason while doing about 75-80mph on the thruway the speedo dropped to 40 and didnt budge???? but worked fine on restart. Also the cluster speedo is 5-7 mph off my tomtom speedo, also the tomtom is not hardwired.

Had a tune up also done today.... 216,000.... fuel filter was nasty bad.

my 2001 windstar has very similar problems did you find out what was causing your difficulty? did the tune up fix your problem?
