NYC Parking Ticket - Incorrect license plate
Hey guys,
I have a question about a NYC Parking Ticket. My girlfriend drove down to Manhattan this Saturday and she had parked somewhere near Central Park. When she returned after an hour or so, she saw a parking ticket stuck near the left mirror. It seems that she had possibly parked near a fire hydrant. I was just looking at the ticket today and I noticed that the license plate has been noted incorrectly (like ASNI23 instead of ANSI23). The ticket does not even have the VIN noted on it. The rest of the information seems pretty accurate. I checked the NYCs website and I was reading on another site and it appears that a ticket with incorrect information can be contested. The tricky part is that they don't really have a way of finding out it was my girlfriend's car with that incorrect information. I know it because I know the code for their system (I had a friend who had maintained it). It searches based on the license plate or the vin and it cannot find anything with incorrect or missing data. Now my question is (sorry for coming at it so late) should I shut my mouth and do nothing because there doesn't seem to be a way they will find out, or should I contest this ticket on insufficient information? If I have to contest it, should I do it myself or should I look up yellow pages for an attorney? Any ideas are welcome. Thanks!

Re: NYC Parking Ticket - Incorrect license plate
Hmmm...interesting. If the only vehicle info is the license plate, and that's incorrect, I'd ignore it. (as in rip it up)
If they are somehow able to come after you, then you should contest it in court.

Re: NYC Parking Ticket - Incorrect license plate
No, you should definitely fight it. If you don't, your girlfriend will get hit with late charges. I have a website dedicated to Manhattan parking (the only one with complete street parking info) and we offer (among other things) very inexpensive 1-on-1 phone consultations to help you learn exactly how to go about fighting any NYC parking ticket. This ticket should be dismissed.
I'm afraid to post our URL here as many blogs/forums don't appreciate that. I hope it's ok to post my email so that I can send you some more info if you request it: [email protected] Whether I hear from you or not, good luck fighting this ticket. |
