94 Silverado Electrical Problem

I have a 94 Silverado extended cab, 4x4, 350 engine with 240K. I just had a fusible link fry under the hood. I traced the wire all the way back to the convenience center directly in front of the parking brake but I lose it when I get into the truck. I'm pretty sure it heads up into the steering unit. Does anybody have a good wiring diagram? I've been using my Haynes manuel and found the wire but it doesn't seem to match up perfectly. Any help on this???

Re: 94 Silverado Electrical Problem

I'm sure I got a GM factory service manual somewhere for that year. I will dig it up tommorrow for ya. Do you know the engine code? (eight letter in VIN).

Re: 94 Silverado Electrical Problem

Thanks. The Fusible link is black then after the connection, the wire is red. I'm almost positive it's something with the starting system, possible the ignition switch. Would the fusible link fry from just being old or is there usually some other problem related to it?

Unless the engine has been changed, all TBI 350s are Vin K.

Re: 94 Silverado Electrical Problem

If you want, you can Private Message me. And give me a e-mail address and I will try to scan the diagram page and send it to you in JPG format. I can't anwser your question about the fusible link it could be a number of things. electrical systems tend to have minds of there own, probally the most difficult part of a automoblie to troubleshoot.

Re: 94 Silverado Electrical Problem

Thanks for all your help. I just cut out the old fusible link and replaced it with a new one. Runs like a champ again. I was a little concerned why the link blew so I got my starter tested. It was good. I guess it took a surge from somewhere and did it's job. It could also have blown from being so old. Thanks again.
