2G turbo pistons?

well...i've looking around and couldnt find anything on the pros and cons about this mod. i do know that the 2g pistons have a higher CR than the 1G, just wondering if there any pros and cons because i maybe buying a laser turbo awd with a 2g pistons in it. thanks!

Re: 2G turbo pistons?

There's cons to it? If they are already in the car and nothing has to be done then I would say there are no cons whatsoever to it... The pros; it has higher compression and can withstand somewhere in the range of possibly up to 450hp... A good bit more than 1g pistons... And I would have to say thats about all there is to know about them in this case...

Re: 2G turbo pistons?

Only con I can think of is maybe whoever built the engine did a horseshit job on it *cough cough* like my car *cough cough*.

Re: 2G turbo pistons?

The only cons would be having to get everything fitted together, but if it's already in the car then it's only pros for you buddy.

Re: 2G turbo pistons?

j/w, but there would be power gains from this and if there is..would the ecu sense this? do i have to "tune" it? or would it be fine just cruisin around like any other dsm out there?

Re: 2G turbo pistons?

I don't know if there would be any noticeable power gains out of it as far as the ECU monitoring goes, but no, you wouldn't need to "tune," just drive it as you normally would.

Re: 2G turbo pistons?

As far as power gains...you may notice a little differance when not under boost because I think the compression on the 2G pistions is 8.5:1 and I thought but dont quote me on this that the 1G pistons are like 8.0:1...

Re: 2G turbo pistons?

Well yes, there will be power gains, but I was referring to the ECU, in terms that there won't need to be any tuning done.

yeah, theres not much of a difference between 1g and 2g pistons compression. But it makes up a good bit of difference power-wise. Thats why I'm running 9.0:1

Re: 2G turbo pistons?

higher compression= more initial power with a smaller window for error
