Making of LOTUS ESPRIT sport 300

Hi,
Started Monogram Esprit Sport 300[1:24].
I built this kit once over 10 years before. that time I suffered for put front/rear bumper and side skirt parts
on the body after assembled chassis to the body.
therefore, this time I decided to cut a chassis part for put front/rear bumper and side skirt parts on the body first.

Cut red line areas.

Sanded inside of tyre arches.

Painted gray primer after sanded the body.
scribed fender flare lines and bottom line of A pillar.

Added air ducts on lip spoiler.

Off to a great start Kunta. Building the model the first time is deffinately a learning experience, it has such poor fit.

Your method will certainly make a better build. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Nice, i still need to get my hands on this one. Great start, definetly keep us posted. Make this one yellow, too many finisher red models from you, either color will be a stunner!!

Re: Making of LOTUS ESPRIT sport 300

Hi Kunta,

I have two Esprit kits in my stash...and only built the engines because I couldn't figure out how to put on the side skirts w/o damaging the paint. Your build gives me the (much needed) inspiration to work on it again.

I hope the cutting technique works out...you're off to a great start. Keep it up!

After the body is on the chassis glue the sideskirts on with white glue.

Re: Making of LOTUS ESPRIT sport 300

i remembered that someone mentioned the skirts have a habit of flying off when you try to fix them on so i shaved a little off the body to help the skirts sit better.

hmm....
why did that sound so wrong?
