What is the miles per gallon difference 3 cyl to 4 cyl ?
My '93 3 cyl (1.0 Lt) gets about 45 mpg average.
What could I expect from one of the 4 cyl Geo Metros? Just asking in case I ever need another one of these Honeys.... DoctorBill

Re: What is the miles per gallon difference 3 cyl to 4 cyl ?
one friend has with the 4 cyl 5 speed in a 97 was getting about 32 mpg and his 92 3 cyl has more power. has to do with the transmission gearing. we have a 96 with the 3 cyl and it seems to be getting about 40 mpg. heavier car and it might not have the right tranny in it but it does ride a lot nicer and is quieter with the 13" wheel and the extra sound insulation

So it sounds like if I want good mileage (mpg), I should stay away from the 4 cylinder Metros....
Stick with the 3 cylinder jobs! What year was the last of the 3 cylinders on the market? DoctorBill

Re: What is the miles per gallon difference 3 cyl to 4 cyl ?
Doc I have a 98 metro 3cyl. 5 sp. so I know they made the 3cyl in 98. I get over 50 in summer and about 48 in the winter. That's with about 70% single lane hwy. @ 65mph. The best I got last summer was 52.3 and the worst this winter was 46.6. I do keep the tires inflated to close to the max psi and a good set of ngk sparkplugs in her and thats about it. She has almost 180,000 miles on it and I did a valve job and rings when I bought it last summer. She had 160,000 on it then and was not running. I average 200 miles a day to and from work.
