Repairing Power mirrors

Anyone replaced the motors in their power mirrors before?? My service manual only says how to replace the glass. I guess the only way to find out is to pull the glass and see what's behind there?? I kind of like having pics so I know what I'm getting into....

Thanks

Thumbs up Re: Repairing Power mirrors

I had to replace the drivers mirror. It came without the glass.

1. using a popsicle stick or lollystick place it in each courner and pop it loose.

2. Unhook the heater terminals. Unscrew the motor housing.

3. unsolder the wires to the motor housing (note the color code make a drawing.

4. Solder the wires to the new motor (this is the easy way you don't have to take the door panel off and snake the cable thru.

5. screw in the housing and press the mirror back in (should you have broken off a mirror lock tab use jb weld to hold it in place. Jobs done.

If you need a motor unit I have one out of my old mirror, You can email me at [email protected] if you need it.
