What else can *feel* like bad rotors??.....
Just in the last few days, starting to feel something odd in the brake pedal of the Rodeo; but not all the time.
I can remember in my '91 Rodeo, warped rotors were always an issue, and the typical sign was slight vibration in the brake pedal during stops. Well, in the '97 Rodeo, I'm getting a VERY, very slight vibration in the brake pedal, but ONLY when trying to make faster stops from a fast speed; i.e. coming off the highway, with a short off-ramp and red light. Normal driving/braking, I don't feel it; I know brakes & brake system are fine, that's all been triple checked in the last 6 mnths. However, rotors are 10yrs of age & original with 170k miles - still look fine though. Also, I do know that my 2 front tires are not 100% balanced, very close, but I'm very sensitive to the feel of them, and know that they're not right on target. So, I'm also wondering if it's actually the tires I'm feeling?? Any ideas are appreciated. FWIW - I've also started taking different routes to/from work, on streets I don't normally drive on.

Re: What else can *feel* like bad rotors??.....
I had somtething similar to that on my 1993 Rodeo 4WD. It turned out to be one of the U-joints. I think there is like 3 under there ......check them all. One could be causing it.
This may not be what is causing your issue but it is worth checking out before spending hundreds of $$$$. A u-joint is probably $10 to $20 bucks. Good luck. k |

Re: What else can *feel* like bad rotors??.....
You know, I've been wondering about a u-joint issue on this truck, cause every now and then I will also get a mild thud/bump from the rear, but it does not happen at the *same* time as a shift in the tranny, which leads me to believe it's not the tranny and something else.
I will check the piston's in the calipers too. Thanks!

Re: What else can *feel* like bad rotors??.....
I'd say you've described my braking on original rotors at 161K. I'm doing the front rotors when I do pads all around this summer.
