Did you try to repair thermostat housing on 2.7 engine? 01 Sebring

They made of 2 plastic pieces glued together and leak. I used JB weld to reglue mine. If it doesn't work- 90 doll from dealer. It looks like thermostat housing, there is no thermostat in it.

Hi,

Did you have to take the whole housing apart to re-glue it? This giuy at autozone suggested I use a High Heat adhesive.

Re: Did you try to repair thermostat housing on 2.7 engine? 01 Sebring

If you're talking about the piece on the top of the engine near the coolant reservoir, that isn't the thermostat housing. I have an '02 Sebring, 2.7L with the same problem. That's the air outtake housing (the thermostat housing is on the bottom of the engine). I purchased a replacement part and discovered that one of the four bolts requires a special tool to remove because it's in a tight spot. I eventually said screw it, it gets driven less than five miles a day and if you go easy on it (keep it under 2000 RPM) it never really gets hot (a dealership fix is going to run around $300).

That being said, if you did figure out how to get that frigging fourth bolt out, PLEASE give me the secret!

I hate that f*ing car...

Why in he** would you go to the dealer? I don't get it. Ask around for a good shop. Not all tech's/shop are dorks. Just this week I had a KIA that had just come from the dealer. The customer had a low brake pedal. The " DEALER " pulled the wheels and seen a wheel cyl leaking. He replaced the wheel cyl and adjusted the rear brakes up so hard the wheels would hardly turn. When I pulled the car in I check the front brakes, ther was lot's there but they rolled hard. Turns out the pads were siezed to the pad craddle. Tossed on a new set of pads and rotors for the man. He now has windshield brakes. If you hit the pedal to hard it puts you through the windshield. I am so tired of hearing about going to the dealership.
