Maxima 01 Tire ?

I have been looking for tires for my Maxima SE 01 225/50/17 for some time now, and the more I research the more confusing it gets. I have looked at the Nitto's 450 and have heard a whole bunch of stores good and bad. I have looked at different size tires such as Dunlop SP Sport A2 - Size 215/50HR17 which is a size down from what I have. But understand that these will work on my car, but will look really small. I want to keep the cost down as much as possible, but still have a good quality tire. Does anybody have any suggestions? Please help me out with what you have done and experienced,
My driving habits are not very aggressive, and I drive mostly highway and very little city. Also, I live In Iowa where we get all weather situations, THANK YOU
