98 Grand Cherokee headlight chime not working
I just purchased this used 98 from a neighbor and it has a few issues. The first and most notable is the fact the headlights do not buzz/chime if they are left on and the key is out of the ignition switch or when the door opens. Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried looking in the OM only to find that it should chime.
Thanks for any answers, Sue |

Re: 98 Grand Cherokee headlight chime not working
Ask if they neutered the box with the chime module in it. It's a common thing to do, the chime goes off for everything that shows up on the VIC. They may have done it because you really will go postal with the beeping if you have a lamp out somewhere.

Re: 98 Grand Cherokee headlight chime not working
What is VIC? If it has something to do with the dash board lights then yes all the lights and bells/chimes work when you first start the truck.
Is it possible that a particular fuse controls just the headlight chime? If so which one? I really don't want to bother my neighbors since they practically gave me the truck. Thanks again for any help. Sue |

Re: 98 Grand Cherokee headlight chime not working
Dumb question: Are the lights on auto? I don't think they'll chime then.

Hehe, no they don't when set on to auto. Should have thought of that one myself.

Re: 98 Grand Cherokee headlight chime not working
No auto headlights. That would be a dream. Is there an option of changing out the standard switch for an auto switch? If not where else should I look for a solution?
Thanks for all your help and answers. S |

Re: 98 Grand Cherokee headlight chime not working
I think there is a way of putting in the switch, but the switch alone does not control the headlights coming on and off,. You would also need the UV sensor located on the dash of a vehicle equipped with auto headlights. In other words, more work than it really is worth.
