1997 Explorer XLT crazy problem

Im hoping someone can help cause I have had not one problem up until now with it.

My problem is this, one day my radio volume would go halfway up, then it would get lower and only come out of 1 side of my speakers. I didnt see a problem then cause I would just throw my aftermartket head unit back in, but the next day everything went haywire. My radio gets power and I can see the stations, read my disk changer, see volume going up ect. But no sound whatsoever. Then I tried my heater which now stays on when I shut it off my seat belt light comes on and dings. Ontop of that it only blow hot air no matter what the dial is set to. Also my overhead with temp is not working at all. I have checked all the fuses and all are good. Like I said I have power but it seams as if a wire is grounded and setting all my stuff haywire. I have checked the wires I can get too and nothing looks bad. Like I said I would love to fix this problem I really dont want to get rid of it. If you can help in anyway I would be greatly in debt. Thank you in advance.

Also all of this happened in 1 day, so I think all of these problems have the same solution.

?? So does this mean the factory wire harnesses were compromised already?

Yes I had a aftermarket system in it, but I went back to just the factory system, and it ran fine for a year and a half before this happened.

If the harness was cut to install your other deck, then possibly one of the harness wires either broke or shorted to another wire or something inside the dashboard over time. If this is the case, try pulling your radio out and checking all connections.

Other than that, unless there was something done to the vehicle right around the time this happened.........I'm not sure what to say.

Also, have you done the Battery and Alternator tests?

Some of the electronics you mentioned require a minimum of 10.6 volts in order to function. If you have a weak charging system you will get all sorts of anomalies.

Verify clean / tight connections at the battery and charging cables. Check in the master Power Distribution Box verify clean / tight connections with the master breakers and fuses. Verify all ground straps are clean and tight. There are several on the engine, trannie, frame, body.

Verify (in this case) would entail visual inspection of mating surfaces, cleaning, and re-connecting.

No I used a fit kit, and ran all new wireing for my speakers(that way I didnt even have to bypass mystock pre amp.)
