How much tranny fluid?
1992 Dodge Grand Caravan LE/ 3.3 L Mitsubiti engine w/Air, cruise, pw, pl. 3 spd auto tranny w/OD:
We've just drained the tranny and replaced the pan seal. How much tranny fluid should we expect to put in? We've got conflicting info between owner's manual (which I lost this week! OUCH!) and the Haynes manual. Need to know asap. Thanks! |

Re: How much tranny fluid?
What does your hanes say? Usually you put about 3-4 quarts in on just a normal filter and fluid change. Set the car down and start it up. Run it thruogh all gears with your foot on the break then put it back into park. Let it get up to operating temp (5-10 minutes), and keep checking and adding until it is full. Just dont overfill it. You wont hurt it running it low just dont drive it around.

Re: How much tranny fluid?
When I changed my fluid and filter, I bought 8 qts, used 7.
I had the 3.3, with the 4 speed tranny. When you change the filter, make sure you have the right one, make sure you don't forget to install the little O ring. |

Re: How much tranny fluid?
I'd put in 4-5 quarts, then turn it on and fill in the rest. Finally, take it out for a test drive making sure that it shifts into all gears. When you come bake (with the engine on and in park top it off again).
Best Regards, Stan
