S/C w/ mods vs. turbo set up....
I have noticed in other forums that throwing a turbo on GTP's is getting pretty popular...
My question is. Is it better to just go turbo vs. heavily modding? Would it be cheaper to just start out with a turbo? Is it as easy as getting the turbo and bolting it on or will internal components need to be changed within the motor? I know a couple guys had said if they could do it all over again they would go straight for the turbo. One of the guys was high 12's with modded M90 and the other was very low 13's with modded M90 both times before turbo. So they must be real impressed with the turbo set up going from S/C to say they wished they would have turboed sooner.... Would the turbo cause drivability problems as far as being a daily driver? Because I am under the impression once you get your car into low 13's high 12's or better its not so reliable....

im def not an expert, but im pretty sure there is more to the turbo setup than just bolting it on.

if you have the funds, no doubt... turbo it... Now its expensive, by the time you invest in the turbo kit($3,000), supporting mods(downpipes, maf sensor, etc., turbo cam, manifolds, roughly another $1500-2000), and a new transmission($2500), you are easily looking at $7500-9000 for a STRONG RUNNING turbo car, now that would be a RELIABLE 11 second car... You can build cheaper turbo setups, but you will probably be stuck in the 12s and will still be out several thousand dollars, so you might as well suck it up and do it right the 1st time...
now don't get me wrong, there are some bad ass supercharged applications, just check out what Zoomer is doing over at ZZP, he has the fastest '04+ gtp and its using a Gen V M90... If you are shooting for 11s: turbo... If you want low 13s-mid 12s, a cammed/intercooled supercharger setup may be your best route... No matter which route you go, expect purchasing a racing transmission to be in the plans, the transmissions are hit and miss, some guys have carried the stock one to damn near 11s, other guys have tanked theirs at low 13s(and even slower than that)... So its definitely the weak link in these cars and seems to be a ticking time bomb... overall, the majority of "fast" grand prixs are turbo setups, but they require a big bank...
