WS6 versus Charger SRT-8

I'm driving back from work on the 210 freeway, and see a 05+ Mustang GT in the right hand lane. I think nothing of it, as the guy just didn't seem to be interested in racing. Out of nowhere a Charger SRT-8 goes past me, revs his exhaust, and paces the Mustang. The Mustang owner didn't wanna bite, but that doesn't mean I don't wanna play

I put the car in 4th gear (I have 4.10 gearing), and proceed to keep up with him. He's a little bit ahead of me. He bites, and we both get on it at roughly the same time (He has a good 2 car length lead, as I was waiting for him to get around some slow ass driver in the fast lane). His car is really moving. I dunno how well these cars normally do from a roll, but this car isn't a push over. I look at my tach and i'm approaching 6K rpms ~ about 109mph. I see that i'm gaining on him. I have made up the 2 car lengths that he had on me by the time i'm at the top of 4th. I shift to 5th and pull past him rather quickly (I'm assuming he let off seeing that I was gaining on him). He wouldn't come near me afterwards.

Definitely a fast car. I've raced my one buddies 05 GTO, and it was nowhere near as fast as this car.

Re: WS6 versus Charger SRT-8

Nice race bro.
I think the SRT-8s are great cars, not so much a fan of the looks, but man those cars have some power.
Though I'm yet to see the SRT-8 around my area.

Ehh, I think he had exhaust, but I dunno to what extent the car was modded. After he saw me gaining I think he either gave up, or bitched out (As once I hit 5th I passed him like it was nothing). I think it would have been obvious to him that I was gaining on him (Gained two car lengths in 4th gear alone). Anyways, I did make sure that he knew that I was still on it, as I took the car up to 130mph.

I would've chatted with him, if he would have gone beside me, but he refused to, and kept slowing down to avoid me, or crossing over lanes and cars. Dunno, though for sure. I'd think that a stock SRT-8 is faster then a 05 GTO based on the mag times, but I could be mistaken. It's kinda hard to gauge how those SRT-8's run as I don't see them that often at the track.

Re: WS6 versus Charger SRT-8

i'm surprised the srt8 owner initially went after the stang instead of you,, guess he wanted an easier race. and personally i've never gotten an 05+ stang to bite, none of them seem to want to play . nice kill tho man those suckers def have some powah.

Re: WS6 versus Charger SRT-8

Good Kill, Bobby. Those SRT-8s are strong runners. The ones I've seen at speedway were in the high13s 101-103mph range. That's right in line with stock LS-1 Fbodys and stock LS-2 GTOs for that shitty track. I ran into a Charger SRT-8 once before but it wasn't an even start nad was across different hwy lanes so it was hard to judge which car had an advantage. I'll try to find that thread and link it.
