Stupid question, but will this work?

Hi all... now that I am back from my world trip I can go and work on my car again. Stupid question for someone. I have the old factory radio from my 99 Dodge Caravan. Will this work in my Pontiac Firefly (with the great metro engine I love... and so does my wallet)... any help is appreciated!

Stan

No reason it shouldn't, once you map all the appropriate wires in the proprietary Dodge wiring harness to their Geo equivalents...

Re: Stupid question, but will this work?

As long as it fits the Geo factory radio slot too! Check the depth of the Radio also. I have a factory DIN Size AM/FM/CD PLayer from a 1997 Saturn SL2 (out of Wifes car) in my 94 Geo Metro. I installed a Din adaptor kit but the radio sticks out of the mount about 1/4 of an inch.....In other words. it wont sit completly flush because of the depth of the radio but....it works for me!....Been in 2 Metro's now over 3 years.

Re: Stupid question, but will this work?

The million dollar question here is not if it will work, it is if it will fit. If it fits in the spot, then yes you can wire it up. The easiest way would be to go to the Junkyard and cut the factory wire harness for the dodge radio and use it in conjunction with a geo wire harness adapter. As far as the wiring diagram for the factory dodge stereo.. You're on your own there.

Ah yes, 'fit' vs 'work' - an all-too-important distinction...

Thanks, digitalvehicle.

Peace,
Mike
