Question Steering wheel radio controls?

06 SS Silvy... hey i want to change my stock radio cd changer, but i want to know if theres a kit that will let me use my stock steering wheel mounted controls with a diifferent radio?? any help is appreciated...

There is a adapter. Its available from just about any car stereo shop or crutchfield. Its basically an IR repeater that you teach what you want each button to control. I have one for my Eclipse DVD/NAV system. Works pretty good. Its a bit spendy though

So, the factory controls are IR? I thought they were hard wired...

Yes, the factory audio controls are hard wired. The IR repeater is probably programmed to mimic the remote that comes with the aftermarket radio.
