Sheenes Akai Yamaha YZR500
Hi again guys, this is my second post on here, my last one being a Yamaha M1 inter color. After that model I decided to do a retro style kit, the Akai Yamaha yzr500 was definately the one that stood out, the colour scheme looks stunning, and it will sit rather nicely along side the Yam M1! It has taken me a month or so, on and off to complete and below are the finished photos, hope you like them and look forward to any comments or questions. One thing I noticed with these updated old 80's kits was that the finish of the parts was no where near the same quality as the new stuff coming from tamiya now (obvious I suppose, as it was 20years ago!) and also the parts didn't fit together with the same precision, therefor there was a lot of cleaning parts up involved, which I find very tedious! however I stuck at it and was quite pleased with the finished model.

Re: Sheenes Akai Yamaha YZR500
I'm slightly biased but...that looks superb. Excellent job on the paint and a very clean build.
You're right about the qualtiy of the kit though - it just shows how far Tamiya have come with these kits, though the moulding techniques and engineering seen in this kit are still as good as some manufacturers stuff today!! What's next??

Re: Sheenes Akai Yamaha YZR500
Thanks Very much. prob gonna be after the summer months till next build I think, gonna get some real biking done in my spare time, and I have a small matter of getting married in september too!! but hey the weather may be shit and another kit may have to come out. reckon the 2 new hondas (minolta and lcr) will be next and what ever else Tamiya release. You are right about other makes of kit, thats why I don't touch em, to frustrating!

Re: Sheenes Akai Yamaha YZR500
Lovely shine! Seems like a good bit of detailing and I like the over all look although I'm not too fond of retro bikes...
