wiring question

ok, i just bought a kicker 05pk simething wiring kit ( the duel amp 0 guage kit) and i was wondering if i could run the 0 guage as my main power wire split it into 2 4 guage then split one of the 4 guage wire into 8 guage wire for my speaker amps. which will be pushing around 225 watts total per amp. but the sub is going to be around 1500 rms

Re: wiring question

0 gauge should be able to handle around 3k watts with no problem. Ive seen some companies rate it at between 3k-5500. And you wont always draw that much power so it will be fine.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

Re: wiring question

wires are rated for amps not watts. I usually use the rule of thumb that the next bigger wire can supply 2 of the wires you are using. In your case, a 1/0 gauge wire can feed 2 2 Ga wires, which in turn each can feed 2 4 Ga wires of their own.
