Speedometer quit working

I have an 80 GMC Sierra 350 4bbl 4x4. When I bought it used, everything was fine, a day or 2 later, it did'nt want to shift (automatic) I noticed the vacuum line to the Trans module was disconnected so I re-connected it. As I was underneath I also noticed the speedometer cable was alittle loose so I tightened it by hand (not the mounting bolt)since then, it has'nt worked since, I replaced the cable and no luck
Also I can't seem to bleed the rear brakes.Theres no leaks and theres new wheel cylinders on both sides yet they remain air bound. I'm in no great rush since the trucks in the garage irritating the "little lady"but I'd like to get it back on the road with in the next few weeks now that warm weather is coming back. Last but not least, does anyone know of a web site that has step by step directions on rebuilding a fisher plow hydrolic*sp* pump?. mine has a leak someplace and loses pressure quite fast. Not to mention dripping fluid
Thanks for any and all the help here. I really appreciate it

Re: Speedometer quit working

For the speed-o I would pull the gear out of the t-case to see if it has stripped. Make sure that the cable is pushed in to the speed-o housing all the way, they can move back just enough that it will not turn the gear in the speed-o. On the brake issue, are you getting pressure from the master cylinder to the rear brakes. The smaller resivor is for the rear brakes. Maybe try bleading right at the m/c first. If you don't get pressure there then you will need to replace the m/c.
