Dash lights

I have a 2000 venture. The problem I have been having is that the dash lights will go out for a second or so. Its like the key was shut off. It will then come back to normal. The rear wiper will also come on when the fan blower is turned on or if the intermittant wipers are on. The security light will come on even though I have no alarm system or remote locks. The radio will continue to be on even when the dash lights go out. The center part of the dash will continue to stay on even when the dash lights go out. The fuel gauge will also go down to empty, low fuel light will come on, and the temp gauge will drop to 0.

Has anyone had this. I was leaning toward a BCM, but dončt want the expense of getting one if it is not going to solve problem.

Thanks

Re: Dash lights

I'd be suspicious of the IP connectors. Remove the instrument cluster and inspect the connectors. the fact that the fuel gauge drops then returns is a clue, since I don't believe that is routed through the BCM, but only taps off to the BCM for other functions. In other words, the gauge should work even if the BCM is completely removed.
