96 s10 transmission problem.

Well, i was driving to the bank, and when i was speeding up it took a real long time to shift out of first gear (this is a automatic by the way) and then made this weird noise, so i slowed down and then speed back up, and was driving fine. I got to the bank and did a turn around, went to reverse, and it wouldn't reverse, it almost seemed like it was in nutrual. So now my car makes a weird noise when its in reverse, but its normal when its in any other gear.

But when i do drive it now after the incident, it takes a few more seconds to shift out of first then it used to.

Any ideas? im thinkin i might need a trans rebuilt but it cost alot. If you think the same, do you know any way to do it which would be the most cost efficent. Like buying a used rebuilt trans and have some place install it?

Take a look at this, it sounds like your common reaction sun shell failure.

Busted sun shell loses rev/2nd/4th.
Is the fluid full. First step is drop the pan and change the filter and 5 qts of fluid and see if that fixes. Often does and wait till you see the crap in the pan and on the magnet.
