98 S10 air conditioning compressor

I have a 1998 S10 4.3 vortex the air conditioning compressor won't kick on when I turn on the switch, its not locked up and the fuses inside the truck as well as the fuse box on the fender seem ok does anyone have any sugessions

The system is probably low on refrigerant. The clutch cycling switch will not allow the compressor to engage if the system is low or out of refrigerant. If that's the case, the system has a leak and must be repaired, (if you want it to work). The system can then be evacuated, the proper type and amount of oil added, and recharge with the proper amount of R134a refrigerant.
