Can you change O2 sensor ?

I have a 3 wire O2 sensor on my 94 5.7L.
Anyone know if I can change to a single wire O2 sensor?
The 3 wire ia a heated sensor and cost around $60.
The single wire is an unheated sensor and cost around $20.

Thanks,
Don J

yes you can replace O-2 sensor go to autozone or advanced buy the socket that takes them out it has a slit in it for the wire coming out of it and there cheap like 8 to 10 bucks...im sure you'll need it for the next time or for the next car.

Re: Can you change O2 sensor ?

I looked-up some 02 sensor prices for your vehicle. The universal 02 sensor is about 63 bucks, the oem 02 sensor is about 45, not counting tax. Yes, the single wire 02 sensor is about 23 bucks, tax not included.

The heater allows the 02 sensor to start switching quicker and inturn allows the system to go into closed loop faster. The heater may have been added, in part, to help get rid of unwanted 02 sensor codes. As far as gas mileage, its been my experience, that the faster you get into closed loop the better.

If the 02 sensor doesn't start switching when it should, you may start getting 02 sensor codes?

I agree, even at the discount auto stores, the prices just keep going up.
