No Brake lights

My PT has no brake lights, even the 3rd light does not work. I recently had problems with the fuse for the side lamps blow constantly but this seems to have stopped.

I had the onside lamp unit replaced as the lens was cracked and water had eroded the insides away, I also had the break switch unit replaced but still nothing. What on earth could be wrong? The mechanic checked the fuses but they all appear to be fine.
