Bad Brakes

I had all four new rotors and all pads replaced on my 96 buick regal in february. Today as i was driving i could smell something like a burning a tire smell. checked tires were all fine. checked all the belts they are fine as well. Finally located smell coming off of passeneger rearside of tire. What could have happened? on top of it when i tried to stop the brakes went all the way to the floor and and took a tremdous amount of space to stop and i could feel the front end being pulled to one side almost as if i had no brakes at all. checked brake fluid it is still full so i am pretty sure there is no leakge of brake fluid. i am going to take it back to the person that did my brakes and i am hoping they will redo them for free. i spent 400 on the brake repairs already done. anyone have an idea of what could be wrong with the brakes? oh, and my waring light for the brakes is not coming on so i am stumped. another little clue i used my parking brake yesterday when parked on a hill. would really appreciate any insight anyone would have as to what os happening to my baby.

Re: Bad Brakes

Welcome to AF!!

There are a couple of items that could have caused your problem but my feeling is that you have sticking calipers. When you put the new brakes on the car and you compressed the pistion on the calipers, they were probably rusted on the inside and the pistons are not sticking causing the problem. There is only one way to fix this problem is to either rebuild or replace the calipers. As for the light you will have to reset the brake indicator switch to get it to work correctly. If you have ABS brakes I would have the ABS checked as well as you may have an issue there too. I hope this helps.
