Angry 1995 Caprice LT1 dies when put into drive

Hello,

I have a 1995 Caprice with the 5.7l LT1 engine. The car starts and runs fine, you can rev it in park and the engine sounds great. The issue lies when you put it in drive and step on the accelerator. The car will quickly die with the slightest push of the throttle.

The car will creep forward when in drive but until you touch the throttle it croaks.

I know the 02 sensors and cats are shot in the car. Would this cause the problem?

I want to do whatever I can before I have to bring it in. Any thoughts about what might be wrong please let me know. It will be very appreciated!

Thanks!!!

Welcome Aboard!

Any error codes? MIL on? Fuel pressure normal?

Unless the cats are clogged, it shouldn't cause that kind of problem. If the O² sensors are dead, it will really only make a difference after the engine has warmed a bit and is supposed to be in closed loop mode.

I'd suggest you verify the TPS signal through its full range.
