Question 1997 Grand Prix GTP-stumbles on acceleration

Just replaced the ign wires with delco product today. Problem started yesterday. Stumble only under load. Smooth throughout rpm range in park. No MIL, no codes. I suspected the optispark got wet, (lots of flooded streets due to rain) but seems bone dry. Injectors seem ok. I haven't pulled the plugs as it is an absolute nightmare toward the firewall. ????

Re: 1997 Grand Prix GTP-stumbles on acceleration

I have a 98 GTP with a different problem, but I'll give my guess at your problem. Stumbling under load could be a fuel delivery issue. When was the fuel filter last changed and how many miles on the existing filter? I still need to get a fuel pressure gauge for my GP, but if you have access to one, you may want to see if pressure is on the low side. An engine under load will require more fuel than in park when revving at the same RPM, so again, this is just something you may want to look at in addition to the ignition. Hope you find your problem soon.

Dan

My car did the same thing changed the plugs and it was good to go!

Plugs looked good but after 200 on a fuel pump i decided to spend another 10 bucks on plugs and its fine now just really lean, Try it!
