2004 Cav Oil change

Ok, I decided to change the oil in my daughter's 2004 Cavalier.
Where the heck is the oil filter?

The oil filter is a cartridge on the 2.2 Ecotec. You need a special socket (available @ Pep Boys for about 10 bucks). I think it's 32mm. Remove the black plastic cap over the filter (located left front of engine) to access filter.

Like said above but to go into a little bit more detail.....you cant miss it, follow the inside of the driver side headlight to about the stock intake pipe and look down. You should see what looks like a small black drain pipe plug with a 32mm socket end on it.

Yup! Found it! Had to go get a socket large enough to fit that bugger. It is also in a very very tight clearance place. Could hardly get the socket on it with the breaker bar. Why cant they put oil filters some place easy to get to?

Re: 2004 Cav Oil change

Its actually a cake walk with a socket extension or two. I like it being there better then needing to cram my hand and arm down in the back of the engine to get at the filter like all the other cars Ive owned.
