Honda S2000 vs. 350Z auto

I raced a 2002 Honda S2000 tonight in my 5sp auto 350Z Touring. ran about 1/5 mile.

I gotta say... that little Honda kicks a$$! I barely beat him. I was shocked! I immediately came home to hop online and check the specs on the S2000.

240hp at 8300 RPM 153 ft. lb. 0-60 5.8 and 1/4 mile in 14.4 wow! not bad on 4 cylinder 2.0 liter huh?!

I never realized how much the little S2000 had. A Z will take it but in my case it was only by a little over a car length.

Get an S2000 with some mods and expect to get spanked

Good kill. The 2 cars are very evenly matched, making it a great driver's race. Though the Z's low end torque makes it a bit easier to drive it to it's maximum performance.

I have only raced one Z so far,and I was barely able to edge him out.

Don't worry about the S

You mentioned mods for the S2000. Trust me Honda already did that. Forced Induction is the only way to go, and it is expensive.
I am also very anxious to race a 350 Z...

your first mistake was trying to race with an AT. that's why the S nearly ate your lunch.

it wouldn't have been nearly so close with an MT.

do your homework spanky, or some Si brat is gonna chew you up in front of his teenie boppin friends...wouldn't that suck.

The 5AT and 6MT are not that far off in 0-60 or 1/4 mile times.... I've done a 0-60 in as little as 5.7 in my 5AT and 14.2 quarter mile in the stock config....

No VTEC shitbox is gonna take me any longer cause I've done some mods since 10-11-02 (when I first posted this)

I've got over 305hp at the crank now.... more on the way.....

I dare a NA rice rocket to play with me......

Yaaa!

This is for N74DV,
I agree with you. I don't think the manual is much faster than the auto. The reason I think is all that torque.
By the way 305hp. at the crank...sounds like all you've done is exhaust, and possible induction. I would be interested in what you've done, since I also have an auto 350Z.
When I disengage traction, hold the brake just a little, and punch it, you had better hold on. I couldn't amagine the average driver being much quicker with the manual.
My only complaint is that the auto in manual isn't as responsive as I'd like.
Check out that Stillen supercharger...

Unless you remove the engine and put it on an engine dyno or are able to calculate every mechanical loss from the crank to the wheels, you have no clue how much power your car puts out.

Put it on an actual dyno and see how much power gets to the wheels instead of making gay estimates. If all you did was a full exhaust and intake don't expect more than a gain of 15 or so HP.

So what.

Did you dyno it?

If so, why didn't you tell us those numbers insead of guessing the crank HP?

Wheel hp is what counts since thats how much is actually being put to the ground. I smell BS.

The Z has approx 287 at the crank in the stock configuration.

Intake, Borla headers and Borla Dual exhaust as well as lightened pulleys bring the crank HP to about 305-310. There's no guesswork here...

Do the math... assume a loss of 15% and the figure at the wheels is 263hp

Before you second guess me why don't you educate yourself a bit on the '03 Z ??

your just jealous dude..... It's ok... I'd be jealous also if I was forced to drive an Eagle.... I think that BS you smell is coming from the ass end of your ride.

?????

"I dare a NA rice rocket to play with me......"quoting N74DV

Hopefully when you say "rice rocket" your'e not talking about a two wheeled one!(If you are. you need your head examined) It's funny hearing you bash the S2, seems like someone's a little upset that a 4-cyl can hang with his 6. Here we have mister "I'm cool because of my car" Seems to me you're thinking your Z is some sort of Ferrari or something. Get a life man, you don't have to bash other people's rides to make your'self feel better.(or maybe You do)

wow... you totally missed my feeling of the S2K

Read my first post... if anything I was giving it kudos. I think it's one fast ass car.

I was bashing the guy who seems to think my car does not put out 310hp. WTF does he know?

Go back and read the post before you bash me... some of you are f'ing morons

Actually It's all guesswork since your not measuring anything only estimating.

Why should I educate my self on the Z I'm not putting the car down I just find it gay when people make up hp numbers.

I'm assuming your an idiot and don't know that an Eagle Talon TSI AWD is carbon copy of the Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. Anyone will tell you DSMs are a force to be reckoned with. Get ready to have your ass handed to you if you meet a new EVO on the street.

I'm not jealous of an auto 350Z.
