2000 Silverado Z71 Noises...Any Help...

I have a few noises that i cant figure out.The first is a sound that is like air coming from the dash, when i accelerate, or at higher rpms, someone said its air in the heater core, any thoughts?

Second is a sorta clunk sound, more like something is shifting back and forth when i come to a complete stop,or take off from a stop.......

Third is almost a rubbing sound, but is noticable, when i turn the wheel far enough to the left, and a roughness/slight vibration can be felt in the steering wheel.but it doesnt happen when i turn to the right at all...

Any info would be greatly appriciated......

Re: 2000 Silverado Z71 Noises...Any Help...

I have the same truck and i have some of those same sounds. The clunk sound in the rear end is normal. The mechanic at the chevy place told me that soon after i bought the truck, i thought something was wrong too. The rubbing may be your tires on the fender, what size are your tires? I also have the other sound but ive been running strong for 7 years and it hasnt affected me, no clue what it is... Never been the the shop for the motor..GREAT TRUCK

Re: 2000 Silverado Z71 Noises...Any Help...

Not sure about the first noise. The second most likely is the typical slip yolk clunk and the third could quite possibly be the steering box. My truck was making the exact same noise and vibration only when turing one direction, in my case it was to the right. I bought the truck used at 3 years old and noticed the noise / vibration shortly after, and about 2 1/2 years later the steering box was gone. I had taken it in to a garage early on after i got the truck and they could not figure out what was causing the noise. Hopefully that is not what is wrong in your case because it is not a cheap repair. The steering box alone without labour was $600. Good luck.
