towing weight
I have a 98 tacoma with K&N intake, supercharger, 3" flowmaster, and firestone airbags. Will I be able to pull a 5000 lb trailer with any problems. I know the rating is around 3500 for tacomas but I'm just hoping I have increased this enough.

Re: towing weight
Those ratings also mirror the brakes. So even though you can pull that wieght you might have a decreased stopping distance. But I'm sure someone with real experience will help you.

Re: towing weight
A simple fix would be to Add-A-Leaf into the leaf spring pack. You now have a 3/1 leaf assembly with 7mm individual leaf springs. I would suggest adding a 60mm wide X 8mm thick additional leaf spring to your spring pack to increase the capacity by 480#.

Re: towing weight
I bought a used 16' smoker craft welded sled with a 90hp jet pump with a 8 hp kicker that weighs about 1700 lbs., and had no trouble towing it 300 miles but going up a steep hill I could only go 50 miles and hour. My Toyota Tacoma is a 2008 4 cyl with 4 speed automatic trans. I checked with several people and mechanics the answer for me was the differential to get higher rpms. ECGS sold me a 4.3 dif from the original 3.58 now I have the rpms to tow. Nothing else helps except buying a rig with a v8 engine.
