just got one

I just purchesed a 1986 and 85 mr2 mk1, they are great little cars and a blast to drive. I currently have aquired a 3sgte engine with a LSD 5 speed transmission. now the question i have is what are the best cams to use in that engine and what other minuscle parts i can add for performance other then a boost controller(i already have one) i'm not used to turbo engines only naturally aspirated and supercharged, thanks

Re: just got one

Welcome home man. Now that your joining the realm of boosted motors you have to switch your mindset a little. Cams are nice but are not necessarily needed right off the bat.

With turbo/supercharger motor the key is to force more air/fuel in the motor which in turns brings you more powa. That is where you will get your power.

Other side of the coin is now you muct focus on keeping the motor alive warding away the awful things like detonation, preignition and other breaking parts actions.

Upgrades to intercoolers, fuel systems, exhaust systems and ignition systems components will be where you will find your power.

Since the motor is sitting out. Replace the head gasket and bolt it down with ARPs. If you have some extra bux send the block and head to get its head gaskets mating surfaces machined so you can use a metal head gasket. Because undoubtedly this will be your first thing to blow.

Other than that, crank up the boost slowly but surely and upgrade the mentioned above and enjoy your new found powa.
