problems w/ my '92!!!!

Hi, i'm a new driver and just bought a '92 Bonneville SE from my cousin. It was a total and hadn't been run for just over a year, but my uncle, who builds cars/trucks by hand, fixed it right up and got it running. I just replaced the battery, plugs, wires, alternater, radiator, wheels and stereo. Lately, however, my vehicle has been stalling while driving. (mostly while goin' 30-35 mph) and third to last one I ended up having to wait 2+ hours before it would work again. (some1 kiped my phone ) My uncle says it might be a drivetrain sensor error, but he isn't sure. He also asked me to research all the sensors and where they are located, but all I have found so far, besides this site, was adds for selling a car like mine. Does anybody know what the problem might be and how i might go around fixing it? It's truly annoying and frustrating after I put all that cash into the thing and it's still goin through some problems lol, but life happens... but i really would appreciate any/all help.

Oh, also, my car has about 225k miles on it, so that could also be a problem, but from what i know that engine is a great one and shouldn't be failing quite yet.

I would almost for certain say you have crankshaft position sensor defective if you are losing spark to the plugs. before you purchase one (AC Delco only, stay away from Advance and Auto Zone on electronic parts) spray some carb cleaner into the intake to see if it will start that way, if it does, you have a bad fuel pump.

Re: problems w/ my '92!!!!

Here is another idea, you might want to take a flashlight and get under your 92 Bonnie and look behind the harmonic balancer and make sure there is not debris behind there. Debris will cause the motor to act like it has jumped timing and runs very rough and skips. It could be a piece of drive-belt, plastic bag, just about anything that has been tangled up in the balancer teeth.

Actually, finnily enough, that's a new problem that just started happening yesterday. I'll check it out... i thought it was just the sensor getting worse (heven't had time through the last couple weeks to really get out and do stuff, what with work and school) but yeh, the engine kinda "clunked" and faltered for a sec... Today's easter tho, so i should have more than enough time to check it out. Thanks guys (or gals as case might be...)

Re: problems w/ my '92!!!!

well, I still haven't found time to get under there and everything, but good part is i still havn't been on the road in it. But I tried to start her up yesterday and it wouldn't go. The engine was turning over, but wasn't getting the needed kick. I'm supposing now a fuel-pump problem?
