Grand Voyager rear vent window won't close

I have a 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager. The right rear vent window will not close. I'm not sure if it is the motor or the switch. The left works fine. Do the motors go out on these? How do I take off the interior panels to replace the motor if needed?
Thanks

Re: Grand Voyager rear vent window won't close

Here is what I want you to do. Have someone push against the window while another is operating the switch. I bet the window will close.

I had to replace both rear window motors in my 1998 T&C about four years ago. Then the motors were $70 a piece at the dealer. Mine would only open part way on their own. But if I pushed against the windows as they opened, they would open all the way. They would close all the way on their own.

You have to pull out the bottom and top pieces of plastic trim around the hatch opening. They snap in place. Then unscrew the rear shoulder belt anchors and any screws on the side trim panels, then pull them away from the body in the rear to reveal the window motors. You will have to remove A/C ducting on the passenger side to get at that motor. Simple tools will do the trick. This work took me about one hour to complete, without a manual.

Good luck and let us know if you have any other questions.

With the name "osubuckeye", you must be from Ohio. I am originally from Parma and still wear the white socks.

Re: Grand Voyager rear vent window won't close

If the above doesn't work you can check the switch by removing the switch panel and check continuity using an ohmeter. On a schematic for a 98, there is a dark green wire and a grey wire going to the right rear vent motor. Find them on the harness connector and correlate them to the contacts on the switch. I'm hoping the circuit didn't change for 99. For comparison, the wires for the left motor are red with a white stripe and dark blue. You can check the motor windings from the disconnected harness plug. Should get several hundred ohms. If you get no reisistance, the motor is fried.
