Smile Check engine light still on

My check engine light has been on for over a year, I took it in and had a diagnostic run. It stated that the converter and egr valve needed replacing. I have replaced the converter and a hose on the egr valve. The egr valve is reading the correct pressure. I disconnected the battery to reset the computer in hopes this would clear out the code, but after a day and a half of the check engine light being off, it would come back on. Yesterday it started flashing for a while and is now back to solid. I have to get it inspected this month and am running out of money to fix the problems. Is there a way to get the code out of the computer or could it be another problem?

Re: Check engine light still on

You can take your car to an AUTOZONE and borrow their ODB reader. The place to plug it in, on my aspire, is just to the loeft and under the steering wheel. Plug it in and turn on the car. Hit read and it will tell you the engine codes and approximately what they mean. The salesperson at Autozone can help you from there.
