Speaking of Mazdaspeed 6's...

Well, jeep had a run in with one and I had one yestaurday when I got off of work.

I was almost home and I needed to change lanes, I look in my left mirror and see a MS6 coming up so I slow down cause I was in the mood to play. He gets next to me and we look at each other and then look foward and both of us slam on the gas, I was in 2nd gear already above 6k rpms cause i was ready to pass anyways. I was inching past him as I went to redline and then shifted around 70 we kept going and by redline in 3rd I had about a car - car and a half on him as I hit 94 and shifted to 4th. (rev limiter is at 9400 rpms in the 8 and 1k=10mph in 3rd) as I went into 4th I merged into his lane like I intended to and then I slowed us both down.

The guy seemed pretty pissed off, cause I put my indicator on since I now had to merge back into the right lane and he jumped over to the right and slammed on the gas. Well I was in 2nd again at about 6k so I slammed on the gas again as well. The outcome was the same, I was about a car ahead so I merged and the turned right and was on my way home.

no i said rx-8, or else why would I be talking about the gearing on the 8? Plus 6k in the jetta leaves me 1k to redline, I dont need to be that high to pass.

Re: Speaking of Mazdaspeed 6's...

Wow, I was doing some surfing on the MS6 forums and found out that they get hugegains from little mods. From just a CAI, down pipe, and some ECU tuning the MS6's goes from running mid 14's to high to mid 13's, that is sick!

I demand all MS6's stay stock!

MS6 is a very low 14 flat car, car and driver ran 14.0 with it. With a CAI, downpipe, and Tune mid 13's shouldnt be hard at all.

Yeah but all the other mags got 14.6-14.3 hmmmm....and another note, the GT packagings have been getting 14.6-14.8 something seems wrong there to me. But then again the people on thier boards have been getting those times to so, seems right to me. Also gas affects the times alot on those cars, the ones running the lower times are running on 93 octane and the ones running on 91 are getting the mid times.

Re: Speaking of Mazdaspeed 6's...

After being broken in properly some magazines have tested them to run high 13's in the 1/4.

I know what you mean there. When I posted those times comparing them to what I ran in my GTP all hell broke loose in a GTP forum I regular. I too have found out in the last couple of days that those MS6 can be made pretty fast with little mods. Thats why I caught so much hell when I said the mods of the MS6 that I raced in a GTP forum...Of course I should have had my ass handed to me ...

Gotian, sounds like some good racing. They look pretty good from the rearview mirror, huh? It figures, driven properly stock for stock you would win. Sounds like you were def. the better driver...and that means evrything on the streets...

nice race...

Re: Speaking of Mazdaspeed 6's...

^^ In all honesty equal driver's with equal miles on the cars and both in equal shape a MS6 should win. However that is not always the way it is. Just like when I keep up with my roomates 02 GT Stang. The driver can make a huge difference.

Re: Speaking of Mazdaspeed 6's...

^^^ I agree 100%...Its all about the driver when the cars are similar performance wise.
