Fuel filter line leaking

The copper line that runs into the carburetor fuel filter has started leaking, i noticed it a little after the filter was replaced. i read up that i can use teflon tape to seal it on the threading because thats where its dripping from. i read i can also use gasket sealer and some other stuff too. i know the teflon tape may be eaten up by gasoline and wind up in the carb itself, i was thinking maybe if i put it at the top of the threading though (right next to where you put the wrench) has anyone else had this problem? what is the most effective, quick, easy and inexpensive way to fix this??? if not how much in repairs could i be looking at. AGGGGHHH!! im worried, i HATE leaks!

Copper fuel line? It's a double-flare fitting at the carb, and copper is a little too malleable to use for that fuel line and it may continuously develop leaks from vibration and movement. Steel or aluminum tubing would be a better choice.

In a double-flare fitting connection, the seal is made by the tube flare against the conical seat, and not by the threads. If the threads are showing fuel seepage, it's not because there is anything wrong with them.

yeah im not sure what the line is made of, its a hard line though, maybe metal or something. how big of a fix would this be? maybe just a new fitting thing then?

it could just be loose to. Take a 1" wrench and put it in the big nut on the carb and get a smaller wrench(cant remeber the size off hand..) and try to tighten the fitting on the line while holding the big wrench still if the fuel line moves with the fitting its probably tight enough.

you can alwasy take it off and put some liquid thread sealant on there.

yeah i did just that tonight so ill see how it holds for a while.
