It is supposed to help circulate air in a cyclone effect... in theory, better mixed air/fuel equals better combustion. However, the reason it is pointless is because of the way newer air intake/fuel injection works. Think about where the product is placed, the air inlet tube. Now, how far is it and how many curves does the air have to travel to get to the injectors? By then the passive "cyclone" effect does nothing in fact in most cases it inhibits air flow when at WOT since you have a metal piece inside the tubing. The only circumstance i can see it helping is on a carbureted engine, but then I doubt it would do much.

they get those dyno results on the infomercial by doing the before and after pulls in different gears. SCC did an article on it a while back. a lot of times, it actually took hp away.

In the infomercial, during the 1st dyno they have a stock air intake box. The 2nd run, if you look carefully, all of a sudden there is a k&n cone filter.

correct they did change the filter..
but in all fairness the device does do what it says i does..
it just doesn't add power..
not to mention that the air cyclone won't do squat once it hits the throttle body anyway..
but it makes the air go faster from it to the throttlebody.. , faster, not more air..

A guy over in the 88-91 Civic/CRX thread put one of those onto his 88DX sedan, and he said it helped a bit in the low end, but fucked up the high end.
