96 Marquis Code after tune up

I replaced the plugs with Autolite double platnum's. The old ones looked original with 93,000 miles on them. They were rusted very bad at the connecter end of the plugs on 3 of them. As I was replacing the plugs I had to remove the engine cover and air intake hose (from the air box to the throttle body) I also had to unplug some of the fuel injectors to get to the plugs. After I replaced all of the plugs I started the engine and the "check engine light" started to blink and then stayed on. I put my OBD II code anilizer on it and it read P0306 : number 6 clyinder misfiring. I used dielectric grease and anti-seez on the plugs like your subpost to. I checked the connection to number 6 and it was fine. WOULD unpluging the fuel injecters cause this "check eng. lite to come on ?? I cleared the code and it never came on again. Has anyone else had this happen to them and is this common ?? Thanks for your helping me as you have in the past. Dan in South Jersey.

If you have the injector disconnected then that cylinder can't fire without fuel.

Re: 96 Marquis Code after tune up

I did reconnect all of the injecters as I finished each plug. Do you happen to know if the Power Control Module stores codes when the engine is off & the key is not in the ignition swithch? If the computer does store codes when the car is just sitting there, that would explain why it stored a code would'nt it ? I hope you can help. Thanks for your help. Dan in S.Jersey.

Re: 96 Marquis Code after tune up

I reconnected all the injecters as I finished each plug. Would the PCM store codes with the engine off and key out of car ? It sounds to me like the computer does store codes even as the car just sits parked. Is this possible? As an example- If you opened your hood and disconnected a injecter wire connection and then after 5 minutes reconnected it, closed the hood and went to start it , would you get the 'Check Engine" light ? Thanks ,Dan in S Jersey.
